Who are we?

We're a family owned and operated micro-roaster nestled in the heart of Western North Carolina. Braided Cord Coffee Co, we’re more than just coffee roasters though. We’re fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and so much more! We believe in building strong, genuine relationships and coffee is our vessel of choice. Many great things happen over coffee: waking up, first dates, corporate meetings, friends hangouts, business deals, studying, etc. We want to help you do all of those things and more!

Why Braided Cord?

Ecclesiastes 4 says that a cord of 3 strands is not easily broken. We believe that the best of things come together when we work with each other. Coffee is a great example of that very principle! Many people have worked together to put that delicious cup of coffee into your hands.

All year long, farmers work to produce the coffee cherry, then they process the seeds using various methods (dry, wet, honey, etc.). Those “beans” are then packaged and exported to various importers and roasters where they are distributed and roasted to specification. Then, they are delivered to various outlets: coffee shops, farmers markets, grocery stores, or directly to you. This cup that you are drinking has been handled by a lot of different people and has travelled many miles to get to you!

All orders will be handled with the highest level of integrity, using high quality beans that are traceable and purchased at a fair price. We will do everything within our power to fulfill all orders correctly and promptly.

All of our coffee will be roasted to order, so you will always have fresh coffee!

What am I drinking?

My current "go to" drink is a pour-over drip coffee using my Hario V60. My Colombia has become my new daily driver. It's deliciously juicy, yet easy on the acidity. Nice and fruity with a chocolate finish!

Cup Description:

This is quite a juicy cup with a big-bodied mouthfeel. It should leave you with quite a nice aftertaste! Immediately, you should taste some juiciness akin to taking a bite of a grape accompanied by some citrus zest. Cooling allows for some dried date notes and chocolatiness to settle in. Even though it’s a light roast, I find it to be quite balanced between fruity, yet sweet. Depending on the brew method, you might even taste some sugar cane!

Lighter roasts don’t tend to be everybody’s cup, find this to be quite an easy one to enjoy!

Farm Notes:

Veredas Vecinas (which means "neighboring villages"), brings together coffees from small, high-elevation farms tucked into the mountains of Inzá, in Colombia’s Cauca region.

The heart of this lot comes from San Antonio, a little town you reach by winding along the Río Páez and crossing a narrow suspension bridge. It’s a remote area, but rich with coffee tradition. Most farms here sit between 1500 and 2000 meters above sea level, where cooler temperatures and slow ripening lead to dense, flavorful beans.

These coffees come from smallholder farmers, many of whom use traditional, hands-on methods: hand-cranked or small motor de-pulpers, natural fermentation, and careful drying in covered parabolic beds. Each farm processes its own harvest, so every sample brings something unique to the table.
